Low and Zero Percent Accuracy Ratings

Occasionally you will find a control match that reads perfectly in the context of the corresponding citation, but the accuracy rating will be low, or even 0%. Even though the accuracy rating is scientifically determined through semantic mapping, sometimes the noun and verb linkages are too many "hops" apart for the Mapper to justify a strong relationship. Additionally, different documents are written in different ways, and use a variety of terms - some of which may not yet be covered by the Compliance Dictionary.
The Compliance Dictionary is ever evolving to keep up with terminological changes. Part of this evolution requires adjusting the semantic relationships between terms. When you find a potentially strong match with an accuracy rating lower than 80%, send it through to approval. If the approver agrees that the control is a match, they will send it back and an Edit Term Relationships task will need to be completed.
When a task is sent back due to a low percentage, click on the Match Details button under the Action header to view the semantic relationships between the citation and the control to determine which nouns and verbs need to be linked.

In the example above you will notice that the primary noun phrase in the control, system implementation procedures, is not linked to any of the primary nouns in the citation. As a result, the current Accuracy Rating is 0%. To remedy this, create an Edit Term Relationships task in the New Projects tab, enter the term that you want to edit into the search box (in this case, system implementation procedure), and search for the terms or terms that you want to link. You can also create an Edit Term Relationships task from within the project by selecting Edit Term Relationships from the New Task drop-down box.

To create a relationship between terms, drag the mouse cursor to connect the two terms. You will then be asked how you want to define the relationship between terms. Follow this procedure for all linkages that you want to create.

After the task is approved you will be able to see the improved Accuracy Rating when you re-select the matching control. As you can see from this example, linking the primary nouns has increased the Accuracy Rating from 0% to 85%, which now reflects the strength of this match.
