Data Content Workflows

After selecting ‘No’ when asked if you want to cancel the task you will be asked if the Data Content is a Group. In most cases the answer will be No.

Data Content Groups are the most general category under which a Data Content type will fall. Data Content Groups will include categories such as account information, confidential business information, controlled unclassified information, or other higher-level data categories under which most data will be included. Most data will fall under several different categories or Groups.

example: American Express cardholder data will fall under the Groups ‘account information’, ‘cardholder data’, ‘payment card information’, ‘confidential information’, and any other Groups related to confidential financial information.

Confused? Good, it’ll keep you on your toes…Just kidding, help is on the way, but before we get too deep into the Groups, you’ll be asked 'What is the protection type?

As you can see above, there are two types of protection: Breach Notification and General Field Protection. General Field Protection is used for any data that does not require you to notify interested and affected parties (i.e. the Data Subject, Breach Notification Organizations, Data Protection Officials, cybersecurity teams, law enforcement officials, etc..). Select Breach Notification if the Data Content is restricted information such as confidential commercial information, security information, personal data, or other highly volatile information.

For any other information, select General Field Protection.

Remember how we were discussing Data Content Groups? It was literally 30 seconds ago….

You will next be asked to select the groups of which the Data Content is a part or subset. The box below will contain all of the Data Content Groups tracked by the organization.

As you can see, there are 501 Groups. To make things easier on yourself, type some related terms in the search box so that you can filter your results.

Continuing with the ‘American Express cardholder data’ example listed above, we know that American Express is a payment card. Type ‘payment’ in the box and you will get all of the payment-related hits.

Once you have selected your groups you can move on to the next workflow.
