A Common Control is a shared compliance requirement written in plain language, and connected to the mandates that an organization must follow. The UCF has an entire suite of Common Controls to choose from when mapping a document. For example, the mandate above, 'Ensure that your organization has an information security program in place' would match to the Common Control 'Establish, implement, and maintain an information security program'.
